The Lone Wolf Power Barbell is an IPF spec barbell that was designed to help you lift to your max. Below is a list of key features and reasons the Lone Wolf Power Bar is an excellent addition to your gym.
Knurling- We tested varying levels of knurling and specifications for over a year to land on the 1.5 mm volcano knurling featured on this barbell. We made this barbell comfortable and grippy without shredding your hands. The volcano knurling is more aggressive giving your hands to give you the perfect grip. The 6.5” center knurling is as wide as possible, while still within IPF specifications, making it an ideal option for low bar squatters.
Sleeves- The sleeves are 17" in loadable length which is ideal for those with thick plates and for those who squat more than we mere mortals can comprehend. We made the sleeves with a very light rib to them. This was to allow for a small amount of tension between plates to minimize shifting during lifts.
Stability- If you are using a "hybrid barbell" or equivalent that is not made specific to powerlifting movements you should consider adding this specialty barbell to your arsenal. Hybrid bars are great for functional training, but when doing squats or benching, the last thing you want is a barbell that rotates in your hands. Stability is achieved by a thicker shaft at 29mm, 220k psi tensile strength, and a bushing that rotates minimally.
Coating- Black zinc is a lighter coating, providing some rust and corrosion resistance, but still feels great in your hands. Some coatings are thicker and may resist corrosion better, but will fill the space between the knurling, which makes the bar smoother, less grippy and just gives it an overall less idyllic feeling. We have been using this black zinc coating on the majority of our barbells for years and it requires minimal maintenance, even in the PNW.
*We are discontinuing this product due to issues with the coating on the shaft flaking with usage. This doesn’t impact performance but will require more barbell maintenance especially in humid and moist climates. In this case, a coating of 3n1 oil and a soft bristle brush will help keep oxidation from being an issue.
